Joachim Gustafsson
Joachim Gustafsson is an internationally active conductor whose career spans Europe and Latin America. As Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Tommie Haglund Festival, he combines an extensive international conducting career with a strong and long-standing commitment to Swedish symphonic music.
A central part of Gustafsson’s artistic mission is to bring Tommie Haglund’s music to an international audience. Convinced of Haglund’s unique standing among Sweden’s contemporary composers, he works purposefully to ensure that his music receives the international recognition and place in the repertoire it deserves. Through his work with the Tommie Haglund Festival, international orchestral collaborations and artistic initiatives, Gustafsson seeks to open doors to Haglund’s distinctive musical world and strengthen its presence on the international concert stage.
His commitment also extends to the Swedish musical tradition more broadly, with a particular focus on composers such as Franz Berwald and Wilhelm Stenhammar. By championing both Sweden’s symphonic heritage and the music of our time, Gustafsson aims to secure a stronger and more established place for Swedish composers in international musical life.
Through his international platform and artistic leadership, Joachim Gustafsson works to create new encounters between Swedish music, orchestras and audiences around the world, with Tommie Haglund’s artistry occupying a particularly central place in his mission.
